From dub to breakcore. Sometimes I ask interesting musicians to record a showcase that will consist exclusively of their works. The first half of today’s mix is a lazy warm-up with calm dub rhythms, but by the 40th minute of the showcase the real breakcore starts, growing into one big and ruthless mockery of well-known songs of the 80s, 90s and early 00s. The author of this outrageous and amazing combination of a relaxing smoke break and chasing artists with a chainsaw is a man who started with guitar music, then played in a metal band, and is now a DJ who combines hip-hopand drum‘n’bass. I think that explains it. This is Mickey Cats.
I’m giving him the floor: “My name is Mickey Cats, I am a DJ and music producer from Moscow, and crew member of Moscow underground soundsystem PZDC. All tunes and mixes were made by me over the last 5-6 years. Enjoy PZDC.”
