Guess Who, 3AM, Ratty. Why does Scooter need side projects?

Going through Scooter’s discography, I always wondered why some tracks from the early 2000s (Nessaja, Habanera, I need you on the floor) were released separately and under other names (Section 11, 3AM, Guess Who). It turned out that the guys fell into disfavour with the club public in 1993 for trying to get into the inner-circle, and stayed there. Among club DJs, H. P. Baxxter (The Screaming Lord, yeah) and his entourage were considered to be an exceptionally poppy band; too top-of-charts to be played in some fancy clubs. Of course, we know that’s not true: the Germans have plenty of interesting B-sides that only those who have immersed themselves in the band’s discography understand. But Scooter too often charted number one in their homeland, so to get an impartial view of new but interesting material, DJs were sent records of the band credited to unknown newcomers, as if it were a hopeful underground track: no information, no indication of the authors and not a single hint of Scooter (God forbid!)
