The details were elaborated by Cédric Hervet, effectively the designer of Daft Punk, the man who has realised their ideas graphically ever since they turned into robots. In the summer of 2000, they took a nearly finished album and a storyline, and flew to Tokyo. The goal was to persuade their childhood hero, cartoonist Leiji Matsumoto, to make a film to accompany their music.
