Filterheadz / Best 2002

“We started out playing instruments as kids. Gradually we get more and more interested in electronic music. First into house like Masters at Work and early Daft Punk. We got into techno by going to a house party and checking out the second room where they were playing techno. The energy and vibe was absolutely overwhelming. The name Filterheadz comes from the early days and we were still into house music especially French filter house. Although we gradually changed our style to techno we just kept the name because we like the sound of it,” the brothers Bert and Maarten recall.

They have made an interesting move. After the absolutely generic minimalism of the early 2010s, made by hundreds of thousands of musicians all over the world, in 2023 the brothers started to release techno tracks as good as in 2003. Perhaps, they found their old folder of tribal samples that brought them to fame and made them stand out in the dance scene. On this occasion I’ve put together the best works of the Belgian guys in a small one-and-a-half hour mix.
