A brief history of the French House
Inspired by the sound of American house records with a sprinkle of disco and funk, French DJs copied the style, but left only savoury pieces of samples and modified them through a phaser or equaliser, endlessly repeating fragments throughout the track with a playful bass and a loud bassdrum. Filters brought variety to the tracks and gave the subgenre a second name, Filter House.
