A brief overview of Swing House

Swing House is a clear example of the epiphany musicians had in the early nineties: it turned out that everything could be mixed with four-on-the-floor. In this case, forgotten records with orchestral jazz of the 1930-1950s were used, and either their elements (vocals, drums, brass, keyboards) are taken apart and built into a new collage, or they are combined with a steady rhythm as they are. Sometimes the song gets additional parts with live instruments, sometimes vocals in the peculiar manner of jazz music of the first half of the XX century.

Swing House should be distinguished from electro swing, which means combining old songs not only with the rhythm of house music, but also with the rhythms of hip-hop, lounge, dubstep and other genres of electronic music. And as an example, here’s a 100% swing house mix ↓
