Tosca — No hassle. Story behind the album
“Our music is like an audio massage”—an interesting comparison made by the duo Tosca, made up of Rupert Huber and Richard Dorfmeister. After working with singers, lively rhythms and writing enough songs, the Viennese masters came full circle and returned to wordless electronic music, where the voice appears only briefly, if at all, and is just another instrument, like the guitar for example.
“It’s definitely not trying to be different. It’s just that we like it this way,” explains Dorfmeister. “And perhaps it is completely non commercial but we like it. And I’m sure it’s definitely not the majority of people but there are some people who like this approach as well. The music that we do is not music for prime time radio and it’s not even for MTV. But it works very well as an album and works very well in any situation except the classically commercial one. And I think this is the key to why it’s still somehow working. And we somehow kept our style over the years. I mean, we didn’t deal with the on purpose. It just came out. It’s when we meet that a certain sound comes out and you can say this is boring or whatever but it’s our sound somehow. And I think it’s original.”
