We Are Hardcore. Mixes containing a timeline of oldschool hardcore rave 1990—1995

Today’s mixes comprise hardcore from the first half of the nineties from DJ, label owner and fan of complex percussion Jay Cunning. Since he’s based in London, Jay’s legitimate interest is not Dutch hardcore, but the British one, a brief period when the smooth drumming from house and techno records was combined with broken rhythms with the help of DJs and musicians to produce breakbeat hardcore, jungle techno, hardcore junglism and plenty of other names to describe the sound.

“I’ve been a raver since 91 when I first set foot inside the mansion on the hill known as Sterns. Since then, the hardcore vibe has always been with me and 3 decades later, it’s still a big part of my life. My weekly live show and podcast (and vinyl addiction), is a chance for me to keep those memories alive and share a great era of music to the masses.” Jay regularly records mixes with the music of the time, shuffling tracks into different categories. My favourite is his cycle of different years where you can track how the genre has changed.
