PRGVSK — 12×28 showcase

Sometimes I ask not only musicians, but also interesting labels to record a showcase with their own releases. Max Baltimore Chop recorded a mix of his favourite deep house tracks for us last spring. Today he presents the showcase of his own label PRGVSK (Pirogovskaya, after the name of his street). Over 2020, it grew a lot and pleased connoisseurs of real deep house with quality releases.

The creator said: “Initially I conceived of PRGVSK Records as a platform for my side-projects and collabs, but later I decided to release tracks of my main project, Baltimore Chop. The style of the label gradually shifted towards a deep dub sound with elements of tech house and micro-house. When I first started making house music I really liked the raw sound, even with elements of lo-fi sometimes. Tastes gradually changed and I discovered many other subgenres of house music. I really like a deep sound with an emphasis on groove, which you can both listen to at home and play at night in a club.

The music of my side-project Acid Savannah has its own mood, a bit different from Baltimore Chop, and on releases you can often find both an uneven bass drum and a slow BPM. This mix is mostly made up of more recent PRGVSK tracks. I tried to show which way the sound of the label and my projects are moving and played tracks from the new EP, which was released on the 29th of January.”
