A brief history of speed garage

Speed garage is a subgenre of UK garage, which appeared in the mid-90s, when, following the wishes of the club crowds, British DJs began playing records with American garage house (soul and gospel music sung to a dance rhythm) at high speed. The accelerated vocals sounded squeaky, so British musicians began to cut it out, replacing it with a deep and quirky bass part. Most of the garage pioneers had Jamaican roots and, therefore, revered reggae and dub.
